
What Is the Keto Diet?
The ketogenic diet, or keto diet, is a popular low-carb diet, but does it work? In this video, board-certified physician Joseph Feuerstein, M.D., explains how the keto diet can increase metabolism and efficiently burn fat. The keto diet can help some people lose weight and may offer other benefits, like improvement in blood sugar (glucose) levels and memory.
Feuerstein also covers common side effects keto can cause. The keto diet isn’t for everyone and may pose some risks, including kidney stones, nutritional deficiencies, low blood pressure, constipation, and maybe even an increased risk of heart disease. Always talk to your doctor before starting a new eating plan.
